Museum exhibit celebrates the loo
ST. CATHARINES — Water flow is sufficient, the toilet paper holder is stocked, the flusher is working — and the outhouse has audio?
If it seems like strange things are happening at the St. Catharines Museum these days, it could be because we're afraid to flush out our feelings about a daily act of nature.
Sitting Pretty: The History of the Toilet, is a travelling exhibit that's showing at the museum from May 21 through Aug. 28. Borrowed from Guelph Museums, the exhibit will temporarily squat — sorry for the bad pun — in St. Catharines at the special exhibit section.
The point is to not only provide guests with knowledge of the history of toilet-related topics, but also offer fun-filled activities for the family, said museum operations supervisor Kathleen Powell.
She and her museum colleague, curator of galleries Brent Smith, couldn't help laughing as they began preparing an exhibit that revolves around one of life's most underappreciated objects.
